Best Cajun Style Fried Shrimp Recipe

Fried shrimp is a delicious meal, and it’s even more flavorful when it’s prepared with Cajun spices. This dish also makes a great appetizer for parties or other get-togethers.

What is Cajun Style Fried Shrimp

Cajun style fried shrimp is a tasty meal that can be made with either fresh or frozen shrimp. This recipe calls for using 1 pound of frozen shrimp and will feed 4 people, so if you want to make this for two people, cut all of the quantities in half.

Mix the cornmeal and salt together in a bowl. In a separate container, combine buttermilk, eggs, chili powder and hot sauce until mixed well (this will be used as an egg wash). Place your thawed/frozen raw shrimp into another bowl or container (you can use plastic wrap if you don’t have one). Dip each shrimp into your egg mixture then dredge them in the cornmeal mixture until fully coated on both sides.

Take a large skillet over medium heat on your stovetop and add enough oil to coat the bottom of it evenly before placing over medium-high heat until hot enough to fry your seafood without burning it! Add about half as many pieces at once so they do not overcrowd themselves while cooking—if you do overcrowd them they may stick together even though they are coated with flour! Make sure not too much oil comes out when frying which means there isn’t enough in your pan so add more until right amount comes out when frying – usually about 2 inches worth should work perfectly fine but adjust accordingly based on how much space between each piece being cooked takes up inside pan itself!

Ingredients

You’ll need:

  • Shrimp, peeled and deveined (you can also use shrimp heads and tails, if desired)
  • Flour seasoned with salt, pepper, cayenne pepper and paprika
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  • Heat the oil in a large skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat. The temperature should be about 350 degrees F (177 degrees C).
  • Add 1 pound shrimp to the hot oil, being careful not to crowd them or they won’t cook evenly, and cook until they are golden brown on one side; flip and cook until golden brown on the other side, about 4 minutes total per batch of shrimp. Remove from pan when done, draining any excess oil if necessary before serving.

Special Note

This recipe is very versatile in terms of ingredients. If you have any other type of seafood on hand, feel free to use it instead of shrimp. You can also make this with a different kind of breading and/or oil, or even add some seasonings if you want to customize your fried shrimp even more!

Tips on Cooking Cajun Style Fried Shrimp

  • Use a cast iron skillet for frying. Cast iron is the most versatile of all the kitchen pans, and it’s ideal for cooking Cajun Style Fried Shrimp. It retains heat well, so you won’t have to worry about your oil getting too hot or not being hot enough to start with. Plus, it’s great at retaining flavor from whatever you cook in it, making cleanup even easier!
  • Use a deep fryer if you’d like to go old school. If you’re up for using an appliance that can help streamline this process (and keep splatters off of your stovetop), consider picking up an electric deep fryer like this one by DeLonghi—it’s easy to use and comes with helpful features like adjustable temperature settings and a timer function so that everything gets cooked perfectly every time!
  • Get everything else ready before starting the shrimp cooking process: Have all ingredients chopped/mixed together and ready-to-go in bowls or on plates nearby so they don’t end up scattered all over while preparing individual batches; clear counter space near stove where hot oil might splatter; remove any appliances from range hoods (such as microwaves) that could be hit by flying bits when draining them onto paper towels after frying).

Cajun Food is delicious.

It’s spicy, it’s hearty, and it’s a great way to spice up your diet. Cajun food is also a fantastic way to enjoy seafood and meat alike, so whether you’re looking for something healthy or just want something that’ll fill you up immediately after eating it—or both!—cajun cuisine has got you covered (literally).

Cajun Style Fried Shrimp is a delicious dish that is sure to please even the pickiest eaters. It’s also easy to make, so don’t let anyone tell you otherwise! Cajun food has become popular in recent years and now there are many different types of restaurants serving up some great dishes. If you want something spicy but not too spicy, then this dish is perfect for you. If there are any leftovers after dinner tonight then try putting them in tomorrow’s lunch box or serve them up at your next party or get together with friends over drinks – we promise everyone will love it!
