What Is Oxtail & Butter Beans?

You might not know it but you’ve probably tried oxtail before, because it’s a dish that’s served at many popular restaurants. Oxtail and butter beans are a famous dish in Jamaica. Oxtail & Butter Beans is a hearty dish that is a mainstay in the Caribbean. The dish is rooted in slave cooking and is said to be one of the first dishes slaves made. The dish is usually served for holidays like thanksgiving and Christmas.

Butter beans are a popular Jamaican side dish that goes beautifully with oxtail. Butter beans are a small green bean, a staple in the Jamaican diet. Oxtail is a cut of beef from the tail of cattle. It is generally a tough but flavorful cut, so it needs to be cooked slowly in an oven or on the stovetop. It is typically slow-cooked in beef or chicken stock, or a tomato sauce or wine.

How To Cook Oxtail & Butter Beans

If you are looking for a Southern dish that is full of flavor, look no further than oxtail and butter beans. This dish combines the richness of beef with the nutty flavor of butter beans. Oxtail is made from the tail of a cow, which is cooked in water to prepare. Butter beans are a type of bean that are similar to lima beans. They are cooked in water, before being mixed with the oxtail and some seasonings, like salt and pepper.

To cook first, you’ll want to heat the butter and oil in a large skillet. Once the butter is melted, add the oxtail and sear the meat on both sides. Then add the onions, garlic, and thyme, stirring and cooking for about 3 minutes. Lastly, add the butter beans and enough water to cover the ingredients. Bring the water to a boil then let simmer for about 2 minutes.

Why You Should Eat More Oxtail

Oxtail is a type of cut of meat from a cow’s tail. It is one of the most popular cuts of meat in Jamaica. The texture of oxtail is juicy and tender, and it is a favorite among Jamaicans because it has a lot of flavor. Oxtail is usually cooked by boiling or slow cooking, and is usually served with rice and peas, onion, carrots, and celery. Eating oxtail is good for your heart, as it contains high levels of potassium, magnesium, and iron.

Oxtail is a great addition to any meal because it is a high-quality protein that is rich in collagen and gelatin. It is also good for your health because it is low in calories, fat, and cholesterol. It can be found in most grocery stores and is really easy to cook. It is also really cheap.
