Korean Gochujang Fried Rice is A Delicious Spin on Familiar Flavors

Gochujang is a Korean chili paste, and it’s what you’ll find in most gochujang fried rice recipes. It adds a spicy kick to the dish, but if you’re looking for something milder or more sweet tasting, you can substitute Sriracha for some of the Gochujang (| recommend about 2 tablespoons).

Gochujang Fried Rice is one of my favorite comfort foods. The combination of flavors—spicy and savory with a hint sweetness—make this dish stand out from other similar dishes like macaroni cheese or spaghetti bolognese.

Ingredients

  • 4 cup short-grain rice (such as Uncle Ben’s)
  • 1/2 cup sweet onion, d
  • iced 2 tablespoons gochujang paste (Korean red pepper paste)
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 3 eggs,
  • beaten teaspoon sesame oil

Cooking Directions:

In large saucepan over medium high heat add water and salt; bring to boil. Add rice and cook until all kernels are tender, about 8 minutes or so. Drain well in colander then rinse under cold running water until cool enough to handle; drain again thoroughly before returning it back into cooking pan along with remaining ingredients except fresh green onions if using them. Stir well over low heat until everything is evenly heated through but not too dry. Serve immediately topped with sliced green onions if desired!

Cooking Note

Cooking Time: 15 minutes

Cooking Temperature: 350°F (177°C)

Cookware: Skillet or pan with lid, electric griddle or skillet, nonstick pan or skillet. If you’re using a regular frying pan, make sure it’s large enough to hold all the ingredients without getting too crowded. Use a thermometer to check the temperature of your oil so that it never gets too hot and burns your food!

The best tools for cooking Korean fried rice are an electric griddle or skillet; if using a regular frying pan, make sure it’s large enough to hold all the ingredients without getting too crowded. This can be done by lowering your heat first before adding more oil if needed—and never add more than HALF A CUP OF OIL AT A TIME! You don’t want any accidents happening while trying to cook these delicious meals 🙂

Add-ins and Variations

If you want to add more vegetables, chicken or shrimp, use brown rice instead of white. You can also try using other types of eggs—hard-boiled ones are great in this recipe because they’ll hold their shape better when fried than scrambled eggs would.

If you’ve got a little extra time on your hands and want to make this dish even spicier by adding more gochujang (or kochujang), then feel free to do so! Just be warned that the flavor will intensify quickly tongues, I’d recommend starting with half an amount until everyone gets used to how strong this stuff is! Variations include adding sweet potatoes instead of regular white ones [this has become my favorite way], substituting egg whites instead of whole eggs (for those who prefer their fried rice vegan), adding bok choy leaves instead of spinach leaves [I’ll never say no when given this option].

If desired, try adding some sesame oil after cooking the rice in order for it not drip as much oil into whatever dish happens upon its arrival at the table; otherwise, just pour away any excess oil before serving! Another option would be adding garlic instead of scallions early on before frying up each batch; we find ourselves eating them together sometimes because their flavors complement each other so well when eaten together – but either way works just fine!

Pro tip

You’ll need a wok or non-stick frying pan.

Add the eggs last, when they’re ready to be cooked (the yolks will creamy and opaque).

Keep stirring the rice with a spatula as it cooks so that it doesn’t burn on one side before cooking through on the other side. This will ensure that all of your ingredients are evenly distributed throughout each batch of rice.

Use a spatula to stir the vegetables into their own separate dish before adding them to your fried rice bowl — this will give them room to cook without getting crunchy from overcooking!

A delicious fried rice recipe with a Korean twist

Rice with gochujang sauce is a great meal. Even though it just only a few simple ingredients, it is quite flavorful. This dish is ideal if you’re seeking for a different approach to prepare fried rice.
